RETURN OF THE GODDESS SERIES....

Sixteen years ago the word "Goddess" was not in most people's daily vocabulary in the United States and in much of the world.  In Church all praise is given to "the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost".  But what about the Mother?  There is not mention of the Mother. And the Virgin Queens are demoted to Sexually inexperienced women; untouched is how the religious leaders tell it. However, in ancient times the word "Virgin" did not mean untouched. It meant that the woman was sexually independent, and her was owned by no man. She had full autonomy and control over her own body, fertility and sexuality. They were also considered "Wild Women" and all of the most Powerful Male Figures were born of Virgin Queens.

In the book “The Great Cosmic Mother -Rediscovering the Religion of the Earth” by: Monica Sjoo and Barbara Mor, the two well researched authors explain that “Ancient moon priestesses were called virgins. ‘Virgin’ meant not married, not belong to a man-a woman who was ‘one-in-herself.’ The very word derives from a Latin root meaning strength, force, skill; and was later applied to men: virle. Ishtar, Diana, Astarte, Isis were all all called virgin, which did not refer to sexual chasity, but sexual independence. And all great culture heroes of the past, mythic or historic, were said to be born of virgin mothers: Marduk, Gilgamesh, Buddha, Osiris, Dionysus, Genghis Khan, Jesus-they were all affirmed as sons of the Great Mother, of the Original One, their worldly power deriving from her. When the Hebrews used the word, and in the original Aramatic, it meant ‘maiden’ or ‘young woman’, with no connotations to sexual chasity. But later Christian translators could not conceive of the ‘Virgin Mary’ as a woman of independent sexuality, needless to say; they distorted the meaning into sexually pure, chaste, never touched. When Joan of Arc, with her witch coven associations, was called La Pucelle-‘the Maiden,’ ‘the Virgin’ - the word retained some of its original pagan sense of a strong and independent woman. The Moon Goddess was worshipped in orgiastic rites, being the divinity of matriarchal women free to take as many lovers as they choose. Women could ‘surrender’ themselves to the Goddess by making love to a stranger in her temple.”

In the Ancient Goddess/Matriarchal Traditions there was nothing that men were forbidden to do. Men were still leaders and chiefs but any man who was in a position of power were put there by a woman. Either his Mother or his Wife put that crown on his head and told him what his spiritual duties were in this life time.   Unlike the Patriarchy where women were excluded from leading religious ceremonies and from touching sacred images along with the mass destruction of Goddess Temples, the Matriarchy was not a violent era. In the Golden Age when Eve was Naked in her lovely Garden moving her body like the Sacred and Wise Snake, the jewels and the metals were used to make jewelry for the PRIESTESSES for the WOMEN before they were used to make weapons (of mass destruction).  Despite popular belief there was not always war on this planet. There was a time of piece, sexual freedom, worship and admiration for the Mother and the Divine Feminine.

  1. Attending this event had such a profound impact on the way I view myself and humankind. Return of the Goddess brought out men, who were not only well-versed in the metaphysical properties of crystals, gemstones and metals, but who were actual healers. Witnessing these men, turn a simple hug, into a monumental cleansing for some of the women there was nothing short of amazing. I was touched to see such beauty from men at an event that was dedicated to women. I am forever grateful for Makeda V and her crew of intellectuals, warriors and goddesses alike. I will attend as many of these events as I can, as everyone who participated clearly possessed a wealth of knowledge about biology, anatomy, spirituality and history. Much Love, Jazz (aka) Tchaas Ament

  2. When you attend the Return to Goddess, be prepared to be taken on a journey that will feed your spirit, your mind, your energy field with positive vibrations.

Be prepared to be to be taken on a journey to learn about where we came from, through history, culture, healing, and our Ancients ways, and how to get back to our foundation. The knowledge\wisdom that, Amun Miraj-El and Makeda Voletta, and others they decide to bring into their circle for the night, will present as scholars of their respective crafts. I appreciate the knowledge sharing, the openness and honesty, the male presence and point of view, and the caliber of women and men the Return of the Goddess attracts! Thanks for this series because we need it =)

    Peace Huron Be
